At Hearing Aid Solutions we pride ourselves on the care and attention given to each client we see including a comprehensive aftercare service, free for the life of the hearing aid, including cleaning and adjusting. 

If we feel a medical solution is appropriate we will refer clients back to their GP/ENT deptartment for further investigation.

Each client is asked to complete a thorough questionnaire; this is to assist us so we can understand their problems or difficulties in more detail. Using this questionnaire we can help with solutions and outcomes much more tailored to the individual.

Our state of the art practice includes;

Video Otoscopy so we can look together and see inside your ear on a clear flat TV screen.

Tympanometry which measures the flexibility and resistance of the middle ear.

Purpose built sound booth.

We carry out a full hearing assessment and explain in simple terms the results so you can understand yourself what your needs are now and what can be done to help (if appropriate).

Demonstration

If a hearing aid would be beneficial we demonstrate the latest technology in hearing aid solutions for you. This demonstration is important because it allows us to fine tune an instrument to your prescription, but it is your reaction to the latest in adaptive digital technologies which we measure.  This is vital, as we demonstrate not only in a quiet environment but also in the real world outside; so that we can ensure that our hearing aids are fine tuned as best as they can be, individually for you.  Just like an Optometrist will try different lenses to get you to see better and focus in your eyesight, we do the same but with the ears, getting you to hear better in different environments.

We would then offer you a number of choices in technology, sizes and shapes and you can decide which type would suit you best, according to your lifestyle, hearing prescription and budget. If you do not leave with them on the day, we will make them for you and they will normally take around 1 ½ - 2 weeks.

On fitting we run through checks and real world noises, to ensure everything is comfortable and tuned in for you.  We will discuss rehabilitation / getting used to them, how to operate them and ensure you are confident in their use before you leave.  We will then book you in for your follow up visit in about 2 weeks.

Everyone needs time to adjust to the sounds that they have not heard for a long time or have not realized that they missed sounds that a person with normal hearing takes for granted. During these 2 weeks people would have experienced most environments in which they are likely to find themselves.

On the follow up visit we can make further adjustments to fine tune even further as patients acclimatise to the hearing aids.  Further visits may be needed to maximize benefit.  We then contact you 6 monthly for a free check up and cleaning of your hearing system and if our advice or support is needed at any time, an appointment can be made and this aftercare is free of charge for the life of the hearing aids. The hearing aids come with a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years comprehensive mechanical breakdown warranty.

Support

We feel it is very important to bring someone in with you (where possible) when you come for a hearing assessment.  We can not only use their voice as a guide when we carry out the demonstrations to measure the benefit for you, but also they will probably know as much, if not more, about the things you miss regularly or do not hear so well.This allows us to help you even more. If you can hear their voice better on the demonstration than you did before, then that is a very good measure of benefit for you, for them and for us and helps us to maximize your ability to hear.

There is a proviso here though, no one can create a miracle, and no one can promise you ‘perfect hearing’. We can only work with what is there, but what we can do is maximize your ability to hear better in most environments, for most of the time, which stops you straining, gives you more confidence and a much higher quality of life.
